“The child can only develop fully by means of experience in his environment. We call such experience ‘work’.”
~Dr. Maria Montessori
Practical Life serves as the initial area through which our children embark on their preschool journey with us in Nursery 1 or Nursery 2. It encompasses a series of activities—referred to as “Work”—that reflect various aspects of daily life. Through observation and practice, children engage in these activities, gaining knowledge and life skills through genuine experiences. This purposeful engagement fosters a sense of belonging, self-esteem, and the capability to care for oneself and others. Additionally, these activities cultivate concentration, coordination, and lay the groundwork for literacy. Practical Life activities revolve around four key areas: Self-Care, Environmental Responsibility, Grace & Courtesy, and Object Movement. They constitute an integral component of the Montessori learning environment.
