The Cornerstones of Our Curriculum Framework
Childhood should be a joyful journey!
That’s what we believe in, and it remains our guiding principle and core foundation in designing our preschool curriculum. From birth to the age of 6, children undergo significant developmental leaps, are inherently curious and display immense fascination for the world around them. They possess an eagerness to learn, explore, and concurrently assert their ever-growing independence. Our curriculum were therefore crafted with these principles in mind.
Montessori Approach Integrated with Thematic Exploration:
Our goal is to equip children for Primary 1 in various educational systems, including international, private, Chinese, and Kebangsaan national schools. While adhering to the Malaysia Ministry of Education’s Kindergarten Curriculum Framework (KSPK), we seamlessly integrate Montessori principles and teaching methods into daily lessons and classroom experiences.
Experiential and Hands-on Learning:
With carefully designed activities, our children develop their speech, the sense of order, coordination of movement, independence and the foundation of arithmetic and language through specially formulated Montessori materials and activities.
Profound Emphasis on STEAM Education:
STEAM education is seamlessly integrated with Montessori Cultural and Science elements here in TOT. Our approach aims to cultivate the 21st century skills – Critical thinking, problem solving, observation and collaboration through Montessori’s interactive, experiential, and exploratory approach.
Nursery Group Embraces No Homework, No Exam Philosophy:
We are firm believers that learning should be enjoyable, not burdensome. Rejecting the idea of studying for exams, we emphasize learning for the love of knowledge. In line with this philosophy, we have a no-homework policy for Nursery-age children and abstain from administering exams across all age groups. Our approach involves ongoing assessments during individual lessons to gauge progress.
Cultivating Vital Life Skills and Building Character:
We are dedicated to nurturing positive habits, character traits, and a healthy attitude toward learning and life. Through captivating storytelling, purposeful activities, daily routines, interactions, and Montessori’s Grace and Courtesy projects, we impart core values – Kindness, Integrity, Trust, Growth and Perseverance in the hearts and minds of our young learners.
Exploration through Outdoor Play and Learning:
We actively encourage outdoor play and learning, recognizing that cherished childhood memories are often crafted under the sun and in the dirt.
Montessori Curriculum
Thematic Based Integrated Learnings
Our Thematic-Based Integrated Learning aligns with the Malaysia Ministry of Education’s Preschool Framework (KSPK), encompassing Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin. Interactive multimedia aids enhance learning in this domain, preparing children for various mainstream education systems available as an option in primary schools, including International, private, and national schools.
Weekly, there’s a minimum of 160 minutes dedicated to Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin each. Lessons incorporate games, songs, storytelling, and role-playing, fostering proficiency in Speaking, Listening, Reading, and Writing, all in an enjoyable and engaging manner.
